Our
second full and last day in Bangkok had many different stops and sites. The day started off with another ride on a
Long Boat only it was a Canal Long Boat.
The difference between them was the size. These boats could sit 6 comfortable, were
narrower and lower to the water. They
only used these on the system of canals that dot through the city of Bangkok
and they are quick.
The
motor system is the same but being a smaller boat, it can cruise on the
straight away of the Canal. They say all
roads lead to Rome but in this case, all canals seem to lead to the Floating
Market. This market is shops and tourist
goods located in a central area where Bangkok residences can get fruits,
vegetables and souvenirs all contained in approximately a 3 block radius.
Bargaining
is done as a sport here and according to our guide, if you pay the price they
ask, you end up insulting them. You hear
what they want and offer them 60% less.
Somewhere from there, you will find a common ground. My first experience was successful. Starting
at a price of 750 Baht (about $26), I was able to pick up Mikayla’s first
present for 250 Baht (about $8.50).
Can’t tell you what it is as they have access to this posting as well.
Because of the issues I am having with trying to get pictures on the site using this laptop, I will have to try at different times to get pictures on the site. they will come later and it may have to wait until I get back home to use my computer.
