First's River Views After Summer Palace

After viewing the Summer Palace of King Rama IV, we walked to docks to ride in the River Long Boats.  These boats are what the name says, Long Boats on the River.  Each can transport up to 8 people and sit very low in the water.  There is a canvas rim that rises from the boat to help keep spray from the water down.

The motor on this boat is a modern day version of the Gondolas.  The motor is in the back with a long pole and small propeller blade used to propel the boat forward and to steer it along.  These are very unique style boats but I believe these could be used very effectively along the Red and Assiniboine Rivers at home.

Following are some views from the boat along the river.  It was amazing to see the differences between the buildings.  You can see what would be considered a classy or fancy house and next to it, a shanty.

Pictures will follow later.  I am having a hard time with this laptop downloading the pictures I want to add to this.  It may have to wait until I am home and can use my own laptop to work with it.
